- Come up with 3 similarities and 3 differences between traditional and new media.
- Some similarities between these type of media is that they both communicate some type of message, they both involve using a person's senses (seeing and hearing), and they can both be communicated through a variety of sources (print, machines, etc...). Three differences between these type of media is that traditional is not as interactive as new media is, new media involves the use of sources like the internet and SMS while traditional doesn't, and new media is in a way, easier for people to reach since it is always readily available on the internet.
- List 4 examples of traditional media and 4 examples of “New Media.”
- Four examples of traditional media are, posters found on the street, stickers pasted on poles, the news on the television, and the radio. Four examples of new media are the internet, flyers that include a link to a website, television shows that allow users to use SMS to interact with the show, and modern video-game systems.
- Why is the term “New Media” problematic?
- The term "New Media" can be problematic because it is such a broad term that can be actually be applied to anything if one argues with it, and many types of media that can be "new" right now, will become traditional even though a lot of time may not pass.
- Come up with an alternate name for “New” Media.
- Another name that could be used could be "Interactive Global Media".
